Remaining in His Word

Reading: Psalm 1:1-3; John 15:7

Jesus promises that when his words take up residence in us, our prayers align with his purposes. The image in Psalm 1 of a tree planted by streams of water is not accidental. A tree does not strain toward water in desperation; it is planted there deliberately, and nourishment flows naturally. Scripture is that stream. When we read, reflect, and respond to God's Word daily, our desires slowly conform to his desires. Our prayers stop being wish lists and begin resembling conversations with a Father whose purposes we trust. The Word shapes us before we even realize it is happening.

Reflection: How consistently does Scripture shape your desires, decisions, and prayers throughout the week?

Practical Application: Begin a simple daily rhythm: read one passage, write one observation, and offer one prayer that responds directly to what you read.
