We Do Not Lose Heart Copy
The Unaltered Message
“For I am not ashamed of the gospel, for it is the power of God for salvation to everyone who believes, to the Jew first and also to the Greek.” (Romans 1:16, LSB)
Paul declares that he is not ashamed of the gospel, describing it as the very power of God that brings salvation to all who believe.
The gospel needs no improvement. It needs no softening, no repackaging, no clever hook to make it more palatable. Paul warns against adulterating the Word of God -- diluting it, reshaping it, or exaggerating it to produce a desired response. The moment we begin editing the gospel to make it more comfortable, we have replaced the power of God with the cleverness of man, and cleverness saves no one.
A pharmacist who alters a physician's prescription out of personal preference has not helped the patient -- he has endangered them. The Great Physician has written the prescription. Our responsibility is faithful delivery, not creative revision.
The same Word that has always carried the power to transform a human soul still carries that power today. Trust it. Preach it plainly. Then trust God with the results.

* Have you ever softened the gospel in a conversation because you feared the reaction? What drove that decision?
* What does it reveal about your trust in God when you feel the need to improve upon His message?
Practical Application:
Identify one person in your life who needs to hear the gospel plainly and without apology. Pray for them daily this week and ask God to prepare both their heart and yours for that conversation.
