God's Goal Is Bigger Than Your Comfort
Most people define "good" as comfort, success, happiness, or prosperity. But when Paul says God works all things together for good, he has something far greater in mind. Romans 8:29-30 reveals that God's ultimate purpose is to conform believers to the image of Christ and bring them safely to future glory.  That means the "good" promised in Romans 8:28 is not necessarily an easier life. It is a transformed life.

God's highest priority is not our temporary comfort. His highest priority is our eternal Christlikeness.

Think of a sculptor working on a block of marble. Every strike of the chisel removes something from the stone. To the marble, it might feel destructive. To the sculptor, however, each strike is purposeful and necessary to create something beautiful.

In much the same way, God often uses trials, disappointments, and challenges to shape us into the people He has called us to be. Sometimes He removes the difficulty. Sometimes He leaves it in place. But He never wastes it.

One day, whether in this life or in eternity, believers will see the full picture. We will look back and discover that every circumstance, every trial, and every unanswered question was being woven together by a sovereign God who was accomplishing exactly what He intended.

Until then, we walk by faith, trusting the hands of God even when we cannot trace them.
