Suffering Together, Rejoicing Together

Suffering Together, Rejoicing Together

1 Corinthians 12:26 -- Paul declares that when one member suffers, all suffer together, and when one member is honored, all rejoice together.

Devotional: Grief in the body of Christ is not meant to be carried alone. When one part bleeds, the whole body feels it. This is not weakness -- it is the design of God. A body that cannot feel pain cannot protect itself. The pain you feel when a fellow believer suffers is evidence that the body is working as it should. Do not numb it. Do not rush past it. Sit in it together. Mourn with those who mourn. And equally, when God moves in the life of a brother or sister, let their joy become your joy. This is what it means to be one.

Reflection: Is there someone in your church who is suffering right now that you have not yet reached toward?

Practical Application: Write a note, make a call, or show up at the door of someone you know is carrying a heavy burden this week.
