Roots Before the Storm

Roots Before the Storm

Read: Psalm 1:3; Jeremiah 17:7-8

A tree does not wait for a hurricane to decide it will grow deep roots. By the time the storm arrives, the work of rooting must already be done. The same is true of the Christian life. We cannot wait for crisis to begin building our foundation in God's Word. The seasons when life feels manageable and calm are precisely the seasons meant for digging deep -- for consistent prayer, faithful Scripture reading, and regular worship among God's people. When hard times come, and they will come, those whose roots run deep will stand. Those whose roots are shallow will be lifted and laid low.

Reflection Question: If a significant trial came into your life tomorrow, how deep are your spiritual roots right now? Would they hold?

Practical Application: Establish or strengthen one consistent spiritual discipline this week -- whether daily Scripture reading, prayer, or faithful church attendance -- not because life is hard, but because it may become so.
