Christ So Close He Calls It Personal

Christ  So Close He Calls It Personal

Acts 9:4 -- On the road to Damascus, the risen Christ confronts Saul not by saying "why are you persecuting my church," but by asking why Saul is persecuting Him directly, revealing how completely Christ identifies with His people.

When Christ stopped Saul on the Damascus road, He did not speak as a distant administrator defending an institution. He spoke as one who felt every blow personally. So united is Christ with His body that an attack on the church was, in His own words, an attack on Him. This truth runs in both directions. When you neglect the body, you neglect Him. When you serve the body, you serve Him. When you show up for a grieving brother, you show up for Christ. When you meet the need of a struggling sister, you meet Him there. The body is never just a program. It is where Christ makes Himself present among His people.

Reflection: How would your engagement with the church change if you truly believed that serving the body was serving Christ Himself?

Practical Application: Before the week ends, perform one act of service for a fellow believer and do it consciously as an act of worship to Christ.
